7/21/2008: SHG Announces Official Recess
On August 1, Share and Help Group will begin a five month recess for all business operations. As all of our members are starting their freshmen semesters in college this fall, the executive board has decided that this is the best course of action for the future of our organization. In December, we will begin reevaluating all executive positions, interviewing new candidates, and restructuring our entire organizational framework. We look forward to resuming operations on January 1, 2009.
4/13/08: David Stem wins Mini-Putt Tournament!!
The second annual SHG spring charity event was a streaming success! We managed to raise approximately one thousand dollars from tournament entrance fees and donations, and, along with non-tournament donations that we received during the months of March and April, our general fund has grown by more than two thousand dollars.
David Stem, a late arrival, would not let the twenty minute time limit inhibit his tenacious drive for mini-putt dominance. As Seth Goldman, Drew Courtney, and Billy Nason were all battling to beat Jeff Rose's "0" rating through the back 9 holes, Stem managed to drop six strokes under par through the front nine. He choked slightly on his last hole with two strokes over par, but still managed to beat out Courtney and Rose for first place. Stem received a trophy, gift certificate, and a signed Alexander Semin puck. SHG would like to thank everyone who attended! We look forward to another event in the near future.
3/19/08: President Shiraev Visits The Harbor
On Wednesday, February 19, I got the opportunity to finally visit the girls' apartment of The Harbor. I was in St. Petersburg for a family vacation, so I managed to stop by several of our beneficiary orphanages. Luba Yarovaya, the St. Petersburg director of The Harbor, was kind enough to take my mother and me on a tour of the apartment and talk with us about recent developments. After this visit, I have personally committed our staff to a continued cooperation with and sponsorship of The Harbor.
President, Dennis Shiraev

1/28/08: Tons of January News To Report!
January has been a whirlwind-like period of non-stop work for the SHG board, but we are happy to announce several huge accomplishments for the month. We have formally kicked off our winter-clothing drive, (check out our article in the current issue of the Valor Dictus), and have already collected upwards of one hundred and fifty gloves, hats, and beanies. Today we got news that Burnaby North Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada, has managed to raise over $500 dollars for us by selling our new SHG wristbands; great work, guys!
Among other fund raising gains, SHG members have tentatively agreed to have our first mini-putt tournament on Saturday, April 6. The date is still up in the air, but if you are interested in volunteering, contributing, or participating, please talk to one of our board members. Finally, all SHG members have collectively agreed to thank David Murphy, our newest member, for his fund raising initiative. David is in the process of raising hundreds of dollars through wrist band sales at local high schools. Great work, Murphy!
1/20/08: Box Outside of IB Office

1/9/08: Collaboration with School Clubs and Organizations.
Share and Help Group is happy to announce its collaboration with the Robinson Secondary School's French Honor Society, Key Club and IB Advisory Board. 1/5/08: Winter Clothing Drive Announced.
In light of President Shiraev's upcoming trip to Russia in early March, we have decided to start collecting children's sized beanies, winter hats, gloves, and coats to donate to six orphanages in the St. Petersburg area. He will be delivering them during his stay in St. Petersburg. Please contribute if you can; the items need not be brand new, but please remember that the whole point of this project is to supply the kids with durable and high-quality winter clothing items, so we prefer them to be in very good condition.
